Product Definition: Tri-Coat paint colors traditionally have 3 paint layers hence the word Tri-Coat. The three layers are made of the following layers; Shade 1 Color; Shade 2 Color & Top Coat Clear. The paint will not be an exact match unless all three paint layers are applied in the factory order one on top of the other.
Tri-Coat Tips & Tricks. For permanent repairs always use a metal conditioner if bare metal is visible and been left without paint for more than 2 hours and apply primers to body and bumper parts that have there paints completely removed.

Apply Shade Color 2 Directly Over Shade Color 1
1) COLOR SHADE 1
Definition: Brush Touch Tri-coat Metallic Paint color is used to cover deep discolored scratches, chips & paint defects caused by impact of an object where color coats are completely removed and/or left paint transfer that is impervious to solvent & is to thick to remove using cream cutting agents. Shade color 1 is a non metallic factory 2k base coat color made from several paint tints. This Shade color has all the covering power when applying color to scratches etc
Procedure: Clean the damaged area using a wax & Grease remover using two separate cloths. Shake color contents well. Remove cap and squeegee brush. Check the color is correct. Apply 1 to 2 coats of color only to the fully discolored areas of damaged paint where the paint layers including the color coat has been completely removed. Allow 3 minutes drying time in between coats in good weather. If you have impact residue that did not come off in earlier steps, apply one or two coats of color directly on only the discolored area.
Tri-Coat Paint Color Shade 1 Tips & Tricks: Always know your paint layers and make sure your not touching up clear scratches with color or the scratch will look just as bad as the original scratch. You can usually tell which layer the scratch is in when using the Solvent or Clean-up solution. As the solvent is applied it will give the area a wet look. While it is wet if the scratch disappears that usually means that your paint scratch is confined to the top coat layer of the paint and Clear Gloss should be used. as the solvent evaporates the scratches return.
2) SHADE COLOR 2
Definition: Brush Touch Tri-Coat Metallic Paint is a color shade 2 is applied over shade color 1 to give the pearl effect seen in most makes and models that are Tri-Coat Paint. (most Tri-Coats are satin whites). The Shade 2 paint color appears as a clear solution with the Xirallic glitter metallic effect particle.
Procedure: Shake color contents well. Remove cap and squeegee brush. Check the color is correct. Apply 1 to 2 coats of Tri-Coat shade color 2 exactly over the top of previous applied layer shade color 1. Allow to dry 3 minutes in between coats in good weather conditions.
Tri-Coat Metallic Color Shade 2 Tips & Tricks: Use a pooling method rather than a dry stroke application method when filling in the paint chip or scratches. Do not touch up your paint work in the direct sunlight.
