Metallic Paint. When viewed in the sun especially you can clearly see the metallic flakes that reflect the color under different light shades changing the appearance of the color; For example in direct sunlight the color may look light and bright but over in the shade it appears darker and deeper in color; A typical example of metallic colors may be silver, gold, red, black & blue. Generally more colors are available in the metallic range paint type than non metallic paint type; To get a perfect paint color match the clear gloss must be applied in uniform as per the OEM repairers products and services guides; Not applying the protective non porous coating will leave the vehicle metal body panels vulnerable to corrosion that will eventually lead to rust holes.
Non Metallic Paint. When viewed in the sun especially you can clearly see there are no metallic flakes that reflect the color under different light shades changing the appearance of the color; For example in direct sunlight the colour may look light & bright but over in the shade it appears almost the same color; These types of paint colors are generally known as flat colors; Rule of thumb; Generally there are a selected amount of non metallic solid colours that are used on vehicles which include red, orange, yellow, green, blue & black etc; These non-metallic solid paint types when applied may appear lighter in color, then as the paint dries it appears darker matching the vehicles original body colour.
